Just like everything else from SMW, these are cherry. Love these jaws; We run them on all of our machines now. If they ever released a lower profile version, I would be all over them. We've ground a few of them down and consistently hold onto .050" all day with those.

Opposite sides are beautifully ground parallel to each other but sadly, are also both curved. Two thou off at center versus ends. Both jaws the same. Top and bottom appear to be spot on. The hobby mod’ vice is dead straight using same 0.01mm indicator. So that’s great. Overall very happy with the rest of the kit. :-)

I use the MOD VICE almost exclusively. This reversible jaw is very handy. I usually use the non-marring side but switch to the serrated side for extra security when surface finish isn't a issue. The relief added to the non marring side is a great improvement (not pictured). If you have the older version without the relief I would upgrade to these.
