The PuckChuck is a low profile, modular zero point clamp & quick-change pallet system by Saunders Machine Works. Mechanical receivers repeatably clamp pullstuds with a screw-driven, double-sided clamping jaw cartridge.
This system is designed with modularity in mind: the PuckChuck system doesn't lock you in to a set number of clamps or a fixed pallet size like other similar systems on the market. Place as many (or as few) PuckChucks as you like on your table to accommodate fixtures of any size. Using the precision 1/2" bore on the underside of the PuckChuck base, multiple receivers can be quickly aligned on an SMW fixture plate without the need for a lengthy tramming session.
Product Includes:
- [QTY1] Mechanical PuckChuck Receiver
-
Mounting Hardware:
- [QTY4] 1/2-13 x 1.25" Low Profile SHCS (1/2" Fixture Plate Mount)
- [QTY6] 1/2-13 x 1.25" Low Profile SHCS (Rotary Mount). You will need to source t-nuts (and mounting bolts, if different than supplied) for your specific rotary.
Product Specifications (subject to change as we beta test this product):
- Construction: hardened A2 tool steel
- XY Repeatability: <0.0005" [0.013mm]
- Z Repeatability: <0.0001" [0.003mm]
- Angular Repeatability: ±0.015° (only relevant for single-receiver use cases with a clocking pin - this is approx. ±0.0004" [0.01mm] of tram error across a part the same ~3.5" [88mm] diameter as the Puck)
- Clamping Force: 2,000 lb [8.9 kN] @ 10 ft-lbs [13.6 N-m] clamping screw torque (do not exceed)
The PuckChuck requires a T40 Torx bit to actuate the clamping screw. For pallets that are larger than the puck diameter you may need an extended reach Torx socket. Use with hand tools only (a torque wrench is preferred). Not for use with power or air tools.
