FAQ & Helpful Information

  • While we are happy to quote any plate that fits within our manufacturing capabilities, we can offer the best pricing on fixture plates in our standard sizes and hole patterns.
    • Plates with standard fixturing patterns and in a material size we stock  are similar to the MSRP of a same-size plate plus a small design/programming time fee (e.g. a 40" x 16" plate with our 1/2" x 1.25" hole pattern and mounting holes for your machine would be comparable in price to our VF-2 fixture plate in the same material).
    • We have a $400 minimum custom job fee. While this doesn't affect the majority our plates, unfortunately this can double (or more) the price of some of our lower cost aluminum desktop and hobby fixture plates.
  • What does the ordering process look like?
    1. Once you've submitted the RFQ form we review your quote and respond with any questions or limitations. If there are none we'll provide a pricing and lead time estimate right away. In most cases you will hear back from our team within one business day.
    2. Once we've provided a quote and you are ready to proceed with the order our team will put together the design documents for your fixture plate. You will receive a solid model and accompanying approval drawing for your review, which we require signed before the order can be placed. We can also provide a formal PDF quote as needed.
    3. With final approval of the fixture plate design we'll provide a method for placing the order. In most cases this is an invoice or pay link that allows for ordering the fixture plate through our online store, but we're also able to accommodate payment via bank transfer or check for orders placed via PO. Payment is due at time of order for custom fixture plates.
    4. After the order is placed we slot the fixture plate into our production queue. You will receive a shipment notification and tracking once the order is on its way.

Limitations

  • We only offer custom fixture plates in our standard materials: 6061 & 7075 aluminum and 4140 steel. We are unable to use customer-sourced material.
  • We are not able to accommodate plates thicker than our standard 0.950" [24.13mm] nominal fixture plates.
  • We have a hard limit at 24" [610mm] in the 'short' dimension for a single plate. Larger plates are no issue, however we split them into matched plate sets. Generally plates longer than 40" [1016mm] will also be split into a matched set. You can read more about how this is toleranced in our knowledge base article here.
  • We do not offer any of our hobby or desktop 6061 aluminum fixture plates in steel.
