Shipping policy

Shipping Policies:

In stock items typically ship by the end of the following business day.  SMW strives to ship orders in a timely manner. Please contact SMW prior to placing an order with any questions or concerns about inventory status or shipping times.

Buyer assumes all risk of loss in shipping and all liability for loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, due to delays once the products have been delivered to the carrier.

Transit Time:

SMW cannot guarantee when an order will arrive. Consider any shipping or transit time offered to you by SMW or other parties only as an estimate.

International orders may be delayed due to customs inspections or other factors outside of SMW’s control.

Shipping Carriers:

Domestic Parcel:

SMW currently offers FedEx and USPS for parcel shipments within the United States. 

International Parcel:

International parcel shipments are handled by FedEx (USPS and FedEx Ground International may be available for orders shipping to Canada).  

LTL Freight: 

Freight shipments are shipped LTL via FedEx Freight.

Other carriers & services:

Should another carrier or shipment via the buyer’s shipping account be desired the relevant order will be shipped FOB origin. Once the order is ready for shipment the customer will be contacted, and the buyer must arrange pickup and shipping (including completing and sending all requisite paperwork, labels, BoLs, etc.) Please contact support@saundersmachineworks.com before placing an order if this is desired. 

Lost or Delayed Shipments:

Domestic shipments (within the United States):

SMW will coordinate investigations for packages that appear to be lost or abnormally delayed. SMW may require customer assistance, particularly in the event that the package has been delivered to the wrong recipient. 

If the parcel tracking or investigation has not progressed after 3 business days, SMW may ship a replacement order at no cost to the customer.  If the original shipment is delivered, customer must coordinate with SMW to return the package in a timely manner via a prepaid label.

International shipments:

SMW will coordinate investigations for packages that appear to be lost.   If the shipping carrier concludes the package has been lost, SMW will ship a replacement order at no cost to the customer. SMW is unable to ship replacement orders for international orders prior to the completion of the investigation, which may take up to 30 business days after the investigation has commenced.

International Shipments &  Customs

Depending on the destination country and shipping carrier the buyer may need to pay customs fees on delivery. Under no circumstances will SMW undervalue the declared value of the shipment in order to reduce customs fees. For shipments being shipped via the customer's account, the declared value on the label provided to SMW must match the invoice value.

Buyer is responsible for all customs duties, import taxes, and other associated fees. SMW will provide any necessary information, signatures, etc. upon request, however buyer is responsible for completing import paperwork. A completed commercial invoice can be provided upon request.

Expedited Orders

At the Buyer's request and at the complete discretion of Saunders Machine Works, orders may be expedited beyond the standard lead time for the product(s) published at the time of order. Expedite fees are typically a percentage of the value of the item(s) being expedited and are dependent on a) current production volume at the time of expedite and b) the expedited timeline. While SMW cannot guarantee a delivery date, a ship-by date will be provided. SMW strives to meet (and as often as possible, exceed) the ship-by deadline given, however in rare circumstances delays may occur due to force majeure. This could include, but is not limited to, acts of God, flood, fire, natural disasters, loss of power or other necessary facilities, death or other personal or family emergencies as they relate to key personnel, and other events outside of the control of Saunders Machine Works. SMW cannot be held liable for these events, will provide written communication of any such delays, and will work with the customer on a case-by-case basis to make things right for the Buyer.
